Jewel C. Stewart 97 years of Radium Springs, NM died Monday, September 5, 2005 at her home. She was born September 24, 1907 in Segovia, Texas to Charles and Elizabeth Bowers.

While in Junction, Texas she was a horsewoman and ranched. She also owned and operated a grocery store and service station with her first husband John McBee. Jewel then moved to California where she worked at a saddlery and western wear store, then opened the Circle J Restaurant in Red Bluff, California. A well-known artist, she belonged to several art clubs and active with the Art Association of California. She then retired and moved to Las Cruces where she had been a resident for about the last three years.

Jewel is survived by one sister, Modell Ammons of Cross Plains TX; two grand daughters, Beth Duff and husband James of Radium Springs, NM and Linda Kordzikowski and husband Bob of Chico, CA. Seven great grandchildren, Cindy Medeiros, James Schmidt, Sheila Bennett, Paul Kordzikowski, Judy Mendes, Michelle Bartlett and Bobby Kordzikowski. Three great great grandchildren, Jessica Medeiros, Zane Medeiros and Emily Jewel Bennett. A special nephew, Fred Phillips and his wife Dorothy and many other nieces and nephews.

Her first husband, John McBee, her second husband Hugh Stewart, her son Nolan McBee, four brothers and two sisters, preceded Jewel in death.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 2 PM on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery.
