He was the father of three children (M.I. Guy b. 1865, D.R. Guy b.1870, & John E.O. Guy b.1873) with his first wife, Frances N. Dunegan (1844-1874) who died shortly after the birth of their third child. In 1876 he met and married Octavia Chaney Williamson, a 20 year old widow who had returned with her 11 month old daughter from Cherokee, TX after the untimely death of her husband John Glenn Whitsett to her enormous Williamson family in Choctaw, AL. Together they had eight more children making a robust family of 14. Those children were:
