Happy was the daughter of Mr ? and Betsey Church. She married John Gallup on April 16, 1849 in Voluntown, CT. They were the parents of Edgar E, Josephus F, and George Henry, Hattie, Francis, Horace, and John.

Jefferson Bee - June 14, 1911 - Mrs Happy Gallup, one of the noble, God fearing women of Jefferson, passed away last Friday evening, June 9, aged a little more than 82 years, at her home in the south part of the city. She had been in failing health for some time, owing to great age and its attendant disabilities and her death was not unexpected.

In addition to her three sons and their families, she leaves as sincere mourners a host of friends made during her residence of more than 30 years in Jefferson.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the late home. The attendance was large and the members of the Grand Army and of the corps were conveyed to the cemetery in automobiles.

Happy Kinney Church was born at Grisworld, New London county, CT April 23, 1829; she was the only child of the father, he having died in her early childhood but she was the eldest of a large family of children, the other of which were born to her step father.

She was married to John N Gallup in Voluntown, CT on April 16, 1849, and to them were born 7 children: three of whom have survived her; being: Edgar E, Josephus F, and George H Gallup.

Two of her children, Francis E and Horace, died in infancy and were buried in Voluntown, CT; Horace W was buried in Mendota, IL. Hattie E Gallup, her only daughter died at 9 years of age and was buried at Mendota, IL. John S
Gallup, her youngest son, died at the age of 15 years and was buried at Jefferson, IA.

Her early married life was spent at Voluntown, CT and in the early 50's, she with her husband and one child moved to Mendota, IL, where they resided until the spring of 1878, when with their four sons then living they moved to Jefferson, Iowa, where she has ever since resided.

In the cause of temperance, she endeavored as best she could to dispel the causes of much misery, being identified with several organizations having such ends in view.

Together, in companionship with her husband, they came to be of old age, surrounded by the love of children and grandchildren. Her husband was first called after companionship of 58 years, passing away Dec 27, 1907. Devoted in love and duty she remained ever faithful in the good works of her life until leaving the afflictions of the body she departed this life at 11 on the evening of June 9, 1911.
