Ralph David Walsh
Ralph David Walsh, 83, of Valdese, N.C., passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Walsh was born on March 3, 1926, in Burke County, to the late Robert Walsh and Cyrillus Zimmerman Walsh.
He was former owner and operator of Walsh's Market for more than 35 years and later worked for his son at Walsh's Grocery in Hildebran. Ralph was a member of First Baptist Church in Valdese.
Survivors include his wife, Viola Walker Walsh of the home; two sons, David Walsh and his wife, Phyllis, of Valdese and Roger Walsh Harper and his wife, Wendie, of Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Karen Hopkins and her husband, Sam, of Valdese; one sister, Faye Ramsey of Hickory; one brother, Robert "Bobby" Walsh and his wife, Rose, of Smithfield; eight grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tracy Nicole Walsh.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Valdese.
