Graveside services for John Palmer Giles, Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Texas Street. The Rev. Dr. Dan Spencer will officiate. Mr. Giles died Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 11, 1921 in Thomasville, he was a son of the late Austin B. Giles and Johnnie Lee Evans Childs. He was married to June Lorraine Knaggs Childs on Jan. 7, 1948 in Thomasville. She preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1994. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of Thomasville First Baptist Church and retired from Pan American Airlines after 35 years as a machinist. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Tommy and Debra (Giles) Bayless and granddaughter, Carly of Cape Coral, Fla.; daughter, Kathy Giles; granddaughter, Tammy; great-granddaughter, Kately and great-grandson, Lucas of Thomasville; son and daughter-in-law, Charles (Chuck) and Sharon Giles and granddaughters, Kimberly and Candice of Thomasville; daughter, Bonnie Giles Hawkins; granddaughter, Krissy; and grandsons, Michael and Shane of Thomasville. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Sterling Giles, Austin B. Giles and William E. (Bill) Giles.
