"Lloyd Campbell BIRD, age 83, of Chesterfield Co., VA, who served in the Virginia Senate for 28 years, died 20 April 1978, in Richmond, VA. He was elected to the Virginia Senate in 1943 and served for 28 years as a stalwart of the conservative Democratic "Byrd Machine" headed by the late Senator Harry F. BYRD, Sr. Lloyd BIRD was born 1 Aug 1894 in Valley Center in Highland Co., VA. He was the son of Anson BIRD (1863-1937) and Mary Susan (CAMPBELL) BIRD. Survivors included a son, George C.
