Inscription

In memory of
MR. EBENEZER SWAN.
who died Augt. 8th 1798,
aged 66.

Look on me, all my friends, and ſee
What you all muſt ſhortly be;
When God ſends death you all muſt die,
And feel his dart as well as I.
Seiz'd by an appoplectic fit
The world and all my friends I quit;
They pity me, but cannot ſave
Me from the unrelenting grave.
Now I deſcend into the earth,
From whence man came at firſt by birth;
And there unnotic'd lie I muſt,
'Till God reanimate my duſt.
