Mr. Roy Vernon McVaigh, 76, prominent and highly respected Bonpas township farmer, died unexpectedly at his home Saturday morning. He was born August 30, 1892 in the same home where he died, and, had lived in Bonpas his entire lifetime. Mr. McVaigh was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of the local post of World War I Veterans, Richland Post No. 30, American Legion, and the Parkersburg Ruritan Club.

He was the son of the late John and Rebecca Leist McVaigh. He was united in marriage to Grace E. Newberry on March 6, 1926 at Olney.

Besides his wife, Grace, he is survived by five sons, Roy V. McVaigh, Jr., of Parkersburg, Eugene E. McVaigh of Olney, Robert N. McVaigh of Decatur, Donald R. McVaigh of Olney and Larry McVaigh, living at home; three daughters, Mrs. Brice (Rosemary) Gustin of Akron, Ohio, Miss Betty Lee McVaigh of Carrollton, Georgia and Mrs. Eugene (Leona) De Maso of Indianapolis; also surviving are three brothers, Clarence, James and Harry McVaigh all of Olney and fourteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Bemice, a brother, Clint, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Barrett.

Funeral services for Mr. McVaigh were in the Chapel of the Schaub Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur Richey officiating. Interment was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, east of Parkersburg. Full military honors were rendered at the graveside by members of the local veterans organizations.
