Catherine Rich Watts was born in Warwick, Massachusetts, daughter of Jonas and Joanna (Goodell) Watts. She was apparently living with her widowed aunt in Shoreham, Vermont when she met and married Sylvester Fisher of Bethel, Vermont in about 1837. The family lived in Ripton, Vermont, purchasing from the Chipman family a home in 1855 that is today known as the Chipman Inn. Catherine and Sylvester raised four children: Harriet Amelia, Albert Nelson, Loraine Ella, and Wallace V. After her husband's death (1885), Catherine went to Iowa County, Iowa in about 1890 to live with her daughter Loraine Lewis and family. There, in 1893, she married her daughter's widowed father-in-law, Norman Lewis. Catherine died at her daughter's home in Marengo, Iowa.

Of her children, Harriet remained in Ripton, Vermont; Albert moved to the next town of Middlebury, Vermont; Loraine and her husband moved to Iowa County, Iowa right after their 1867 marriage; Wallace and his wife moved west eventually settling in Charlo, Montana in the Mission Valley in 1925.

Catherine's first husband, Sylvester's, burial place has not been found.
