Josephine S. Babcock married Christopher Columbus Pratt July 4, 1856 in Kane County, Illinois.

"Chris" Pratt brought his family to Jackson County (Later called Lake County then Klamath County) in 1871. His family consisted of his wife Josephine S. Babcock and children Delia, Frank E., Charley C., Earl U., Almina, Minne N. and Bell Pratt.

They settled in Linkville at the Hot Springs.

Chris and Josephine were married in Kane County, Illinois on July 4, 1856. In 1859 Chris, Josephine and baby Delia came west on an immigrant wagon train landing at Coulterville, California 6 months later. They lived at Santa Cruz, California before coming to Linkville.

In 1872 Linkville was a town of possibly 40 inhabitants. And in 1875 Linkville had 84 listed taxpayers, listing C. Pratt as paying $420 gross value.

Chris and Josephine's 8th living child (2 sons died before coming to Oregon) Luella was born in Linkville February of 1872, their 9th child Edward Owen, born December 28, 1873 and then twins, Nellie and Ella, born October 1876.

In November 1877 Chris moved his family to Lakeview and settled on a 160 acre homestead 4 miles south of Lakeview. He paid $210 for the Homestead with a house on it. Two more children, Tom and Della were born, making a total of 13 living children. Mr. Pratt resided on his ranch until his death. At the time of his death he owned 1128.20 acres and left a sizable estate.
