Anstress J. Jenkins was one of eight children. She married Lyman Minar on February 28, 1848. They were parents of eight children, four still living, Norman, George and Frank Minar of Mason and Mrs.E. L. Toplift of Toledo, Ohio. In 1865 they moved from Jefferson Co., NY to Toledo Ohio and then move to Mason in 1869 where they have since resided. Her husband Lyman was a Sailor early in their marriage and she was left at home to the responsibility of raising the family and taking care of the home and farm. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and careful home keeper.

Mrs. Lyman Minar died of stomach trouble at her home in Vevay March 20, 1901 in Vevay. Funeral services were held at the home on Saturday last at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. F. White and Rev. A. S. zimmerman and the remains laid at rest in Maple Grove Cemetery.
