GULF SHORES - Ernest Thornhill, a native of Elmore County and a resident of Hoover, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center. He was 85 years old. Thornhill was a resident of Gulf Shores for more than 17 years. He was a graduate of Auburn University and was employed with Alfa Insurance Co. for 28 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores and the Gulf Shores Golf Club. Survivors Include three daughters, Rita Jean Burch of Gulf Shores, Charlotte T. Trammel of Birmingham and Syrena Beall of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be I p.m. Thursday at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., with burial following at Pine Rest Memorial Park. Bayview Funeral Home of Foley is handling arrangements.
