On June 11, 2009, Douglas B. Harrison was reunited with his big brother and best friend Uncle Kenny. He passed away at St. Mark's Hospital in East Millcreek, Utah.

He was born February 15, 1943 in Bountiful, Utah to W. Glen and Lorine Burningham Harrison.

Graduate of Bountiful High School, he later earned his Masters at the School of Hard Knocks majoring in B. S.

He married Lanna Knight in 1961 (later divorced) and had four children who adored him; Bobbie (John) Reese, Scott (Christy) Harrison, Lindy (Jeff) Greene and Traci Harrison. He was also "Gramps" to Shane (Cindy) Reese, Heather Reese, and Wade (Heather) Reese Nathan, Tyson and Jessica Greene, Chase Nielson and Alex Harrison.

Raised on the family farm, he learned the value of hard work. As a young boy, his first business venture was raising and selling chickens and he also tried an alligator farm, although these were not hugely successful, he learned a lot about being a business man.

Along with his brother, he built several successful businesses, one of which was The Wheel-In Market Gas and Grocery which they owned and operated for many years.

The stores were a popular hangout and many friendships, marriages, and divorces can be attributed to "ANOTHER DEAL AT THE WHEEL". He was also involved in real estate investments and had a keen eye for buying the right thing at the right time.

The term "Type A" was an understatement for Douglas B! Most importantly, he loved his family and was a wonderful brother, father, and grandfather passing along the value of family, friendship, hard work, honesty and loyalty to us all. He was so excited for the arrival of two great-grandchildren and is now watching over them until it is time for them to join us. Dad loved life and he loved people.

He was a great story teller whose tales were based on fact, but became bigger and better with the telling. He loved to travel south for the winter in his motor home making friends wherever he went. We have wonderful memories of boating at Lake Powell and Lake Mead or anywhere with smooth water.

Dad taught hundreds of people how to water ski along with some other bad (fun) habits we won't mention. Even in the end, his memory was sharp and sense of humor evident amidst the pain and weariness he endured over the last two months.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, Dad is survived by many dear cousins, relatives and friends whom he loved. He will be missed by his "coffee buddies" whom he enjoyed spending time with over the years, thank you for your friendship and make sure you tip a cup for him! He was met on the other side by his brother as well as his parents and many relatives and friends who are very lucky to have him back.

Dad hated long winded obituaries and often said "why don't you just write a book"? So sorry dad, but 1/4 . you'll have to wait to say it until we meet again. Until that glorious day we will love you and cherish the memories, lucky to have called you " Daddy-O".

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, where a visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 9:45 -10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment: Bountiful Memorial Park.
