Charles Lester "Feltsie" Felts
VERONA – Charles Lester "Feltsie", 84, of Blue Bell, Pa., formerly of Verona died Thursday afternoon, July 13, 2000, in Mercy Suburban Hospital, East Norriton Township, PA., after a brief illness.
Mr. Felts had resided, with his wife, at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Blue Bell.
He was born on Nov. 25, 1915 in Verona, the son of Joseph E. and Theresa Joslyn Felts.
A resident of Verona for 61 years, prior to moving to Florida in 1977, Mr. Felts was a graduate of the former Verona High School, class of 1935 and Ithaca College, class of 1940, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball, at both.
From 1946 to 1970, Mr. Felts was a partner of Arnott and Felts General Store in Verona. Previously, he taught at The Hague School district, Fort Ticonderoga and later and McLean School District. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army.
During his enlistment, he played baseball with professional players in the Army to entertain the troops.
Mr. Felts was a member of Phi Epsilon Kappa, the New London Masonic Lodge No 420 Free and Accepted Masons, and the Oneida Elks Lodge No 767 Benevolent and protective Order of Elks. An avid golfer, he hit a total of three holes in one.
Surviving are his wife of over 60 years, the former Marie E. Carpenter, one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kathleen Felts of Lansdale, Pa.; one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Thomas Dadey of LaFayette; eight grandchildren, Tom Dadey, Matt Dadey, Mark Dadey, Jennifer Evens, Kristin Dadey Callahan, Kimberly Graham, Rebecca Geremia, and Alexander Charles Felts; three great grandchildren, Connor Evans, Ryan Evans and Reese Graham and one niece, Joyce Brady.
