Magdalena "Martha" Koenig was born on June 12, 1819, in Rittershoffen, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France. She was the daughter of Johann Georg Koenig and Magdalaine (Lang) Koenig, both of Rittershoffen.
In 1849 Martha married Frederick Yaeger in Rittershoffen and the couple had three children: Frederick, George, and Magdalena "Layne" Yaeger [Sommer].
In 1854 the family immigrated to Marion County, Ohio, where two more children were born: Maria "Mary" Yaeger [Knab, Bailey] , and Phillip.
By 1870 the family had settled in Jay County, Indiana, where Martha died on December 22, 1900. She was buried in Green Mound cemetery on December 24.
