Mrs. Emma Nutzmann, 88, Avoca, died Sunday, Sept 29 at Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital. Services for Mrs. Nutzman were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct 2 at First Lutheran Church (North Branch), Avoca. Rev. David Freseman presided at rites for Mrs. Nutzman. Soloist was Maynard Geschke, jr.; organist was Mrs. John Albers. Pallbearers were Leroy Nielsen, Fritz Gollner, Arthur Bush, Hugo Mohr, Ernest Emshoff, and James Ehlers. Burial was in the Avoca Cemetery.
Emma Nutzman was born May 30, 1886 to Gustav and Pauline (Tesmer) Witzke in Hammond, Minn. She was married to John L Nutzman March 10, 1908, in Kountz Memorial Church, Omaha. Mrs. Nutzman had lived in the Avoca area the past 68 years. She was a registered nurse, graduating from nursing school in 1906. She was a member of First Lutheran Church (North Branch), Avoca.
Survivors include one son, Carroll, Bellevue, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Merle (Eleanor) Rodgers, Syracuse; one brother, Gus Witzke, Lincoln; two sisters, Esther Pittman, Avoca and Ida Ranfranz, Rochester, Minn.; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and three children, Hilverd, Ted and Leonard.
