Joseph Arnold Swenson, 80, of Orem, died January 28, 1995 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Provo, Utah.

He was born September 21, 1914 in Lindon, Utah, a son of John and Bertha Ann Whiteley Swenson. He married Mary Adams April 28, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an active member of the LDS Church holding the office of High Priest in the Orem Suncrest Ninth Ward. He had previously served in the Lindon Ward Bishopric and as a member of the High Priest Group Presidency.

He owned and operated his own farm in Lindon and was employed at Geneva Steel for many years, retiring in 1977. He had served on the Lindon Town Board and two terms as President of the Lindon Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife of Orem; three daughters, Mrs. Rex (Colleen) Richins, Orem; Mrs. Gary (Patricia) Hunter, Glendale, Arizona; Mrs. David (Jolynn) Davies, St. George; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wesley Swenson, Lindon; and a sister Nell York, Orem. He was preceded in death by a son Gary.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Orem Suncrest Ninth Ward Chapel, 130 North 400 West, Orem. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove or Tuesday at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
