Mr. Beatty was a lifetime member of the Louisiana Forestry Association and a committee member of the Dorcheat Soil and Water Conservation Service. He served in the Navy during WWII. Mr. Beatty was a farmer and a retired rural letter carrier. He was a deacon of Heflin Baptist Church having served more than 50 years. Mr. Beatty was a Master Mason and Shriner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Bertha Beatty. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Helen Reeves Beatty; one son, Joseph Robert Beatty and wife Diane; three grandchildren, Lisa Beatty Davis and husband Jimmy; Jodi Beatty Elliott and husband Ricky, all of Heflin, LA; and Kenneth E. Beatty of Shreveport, LA; six great grandchildren, Zachary, Leslie, Anna Beth, Emily, Nikki, and Brandon. Mr Beatty is also survived by a sister, Lucille Felts; a brother, Lloyd Beatty and wife Vernita; a special sister-in-law, Alice Rugg of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
Active and honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Heflin Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Heflin Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 94, Heflin, LA 71039.
