Lydia married secondly Capt. Gershom Nelson in Douglas Ma on June 19, 1791.

Lydia was the daughter of Joseph and Thamazin (Adams) Ellis. Thamazin Adams was descended from Henry Adams of Braintree, and was a cousin of President John Adams, second president of the United States, and of the patriot Samuel Adams, both signers of the Declaration of American Independence.
