Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Earl Eugene "Gene" Coonrod, age 72, of Leon, Oklahoma, formerly of Texarkana and Fannin County, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 29, 2005 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel, Bonham, TX. Rev. Adam Barker, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Lamasco Cemetery. Mr. Coonrod passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2005 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Mr. Coonrod was born October 10, 1932 in Fannin County, Texas, the son of William Clarence Coonrod and Edith F. Goodwin Coonrod. He was a US Marine veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Coonrod married the love of his life: Laura Busby on Sept.18,1972,who preceded him in death, Apr.4, 2004,his parents,William and Edith Coonrod, and grandparents.
He is survived by
4 Sons: Charles Basquez and Bobby Basquez, both of Burneyville, OK
Andrew Basquez of Houston
James Bearden of Ardmore, OK
3 Daughters: Patricia Hite of Oklahoma City,
Darlene Bumgarner and Lola May Bearden, both of Marietta, OK
1 Brother: Clifford Coonrod of Texarkana, Ark.
3 Sisters: Linda Grisham of Bonham
Carolyn Popham of San Antonio
Rosella Burchfield of Parachute, Colo.
Numerous grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday night.
