Ex Probate Judge J. B. F. McPherson was born April 3, 1833, in McClain (McLean) County, Illinois. Died near Buxton, Kansas, April 14, 1913, aged eighty years and eleven days. The funeral was held at the home by Dr. Young and Rev. G. W. Skinner, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near Belleview school house. The services at the grave were conducted by Mr. Skinner.
Judge McPherson had been a Mason from early manhood. He was married to Sarah L. Richards March 28, 1855. To this union ten children were born; eight of which are now living seven of whom were present at the burial. He served in the War of the Rebellion, also served two terms in the Legislature, as well as two terms as Probate Judge of Wilson county.
Judge McPherson was a loyal citizen and always prominent in public life, a man who was highly esteemed by all who knew him.
His work is done; his career is ended. He fought a good fight, and left a record of which his family may well be proud.∼Pvt in70th Illinois Infantry Co B in Civil War
