James Thomas Demar was born in Woodville, Prince George's County, Maryland. (Woodville later became Aquasco when the Post Office was opened in that location). In 1828, he moved to Ohio with his wife, her parents and 2 brothers. Possibly other extended family members travelled with them. James, Jane DeMar and the Rawlings family were pioneer families of Indian Hill. They resided with Mary's parents until their own home was constructed in 1833.
