OBITUARY

THE MORNING TELEGRAM
Elmira, New York
Sunday, August 23, 1885

MRS. G. HUMPHREY

On Monday last occurred the death of Mrs. G. Humphrey, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Amanda Brees, at the advanced age of ninety-two years. Deceased was born in New Jersey August 29, 1792, and with her parents removed to Tompkins county by means of an ox team.

She was married to Mr. Humphrey November 3, 1812, and together they took up their residence in the town of Erin, then nothing more than a wilderness.

She was the mother of eight children, three of whom are living. The other descendants are forty-two grandchildren, sixty-eight great-grandchildren, and eighty-six great-great-grandchildren.

The remains were interred in the Breesport cemetery, the services being conducted by the Rev. T. E. Phillips
