Mr. Jack was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from the Civil Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Parrish Thain and Erma Brantley Thain.

Mr. Jack and his wife of 55 years have 5 children - 2 sons and 3 daughters; 11 grandchildren; and, 6 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jack was an avid outdoorsman - he and his sons took 2 hunting adventures to Colorado to hunt elk, they went to Kuujjuaq, Quebec, Canada to hunt caribou, and they went to the Black Hills of South Dakota to hunt buffalo; as well as years of successful white tail deer hunting. He spent countless hours fishing with family and friends.

He loved to farm. Over the years, he had chickens, goats, and cows. He could grow anything and would plant an abundance of fruits and vegetables! The harvest would keep family busy in the summer! He loved to see family and friends enjoy things he had grown.

I am married to his oldest son. I met Mr. Jack in 1989 and he welcomed me into their family with open arms. He was like a father to me over the last 20 years. I have so many treasured memories - on his tractor putting in a garden, sitting by the pond fishing with family, the pride on his face when he returned from hunting with his children, laughing at the dinner table, and the many overnight pinochle games.

Thank you to Jim Seidelman for the beautiful composite of Mr. Jack's photographs! It was a lovely surprise during a difficult time.
