Marvin L. Horton, 87, of Springfield, died at 5:17 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the Springfield Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 14, 1922, the son of Ira Judson and Hazel A. (Byerman) Horton.
He had worked as a patternmaker for over 60 years in Springfield, retiring from Hynes Pattern Shop.
He was a member of Emery Chapel, Past Master of St. Andrew's Lodge #619, Member of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem #62, Past Patron of Norris Chapter #426 Order of the Eastern Star, member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and a U. S. Navy veteran having served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife of over 16 years, Jean Riley-Horton; two children and spouses, Beverley (Jerry) Riggin, Troy, Ohio and Jack (Virginia) Riley, Springfield; five grandchildren, Tony Thayer, Cindy Foley, Kelly Sallot, Jason Thayer and Kasey Ellinwood; eleven great-grandchildren, Taylor and Hayden Thayer, Riley and Kylee Foley, Mikenna and Gavin Sallot, Harper and Tyler Ellinwood and Jonathan, Benjamin and Braylon Thayer, and a sister-in-law, Mona Horton.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, his second wife, Clarella, two brothers, Wallace Ray and Kenneth Richard and two sisters, Frances Jean and Esther May.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday in the Conroy Funeral Home. Eastern Star services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
