This is our Father-called Bob by some and Robert by family. He earned his living as a teamster. Dad was about 5'5" and people used to say that if your see a semi coming down the road with no driver, that is Bob Ward. He answered their ribbing with a grin. On one long haul trip, my Dad had a co-driver. The man asked my Dad to borrow his comb; my Dad handed him a wet washcloth. Unfortunately, the Ward men all began to get bald around age 20. My Dad's family arrived in America about 1730 or so from Hamburg, Germany. His GGGGgrandfather fought for American side in Revolutionary War. After the war, he was given some land which he farmed in either Pennsylvania or Maryland. I have lots of paternal relatives in the Fredricks, Maryland area. My Dad had a bad heart and so after he retired, the doctor prescribed a warmer climate then Dayton, Ohio. They moved to Hollywood, Florida about 1955. After the move to Florida, it was a job to get Dad back up North for any reason. Also, wearing long pants was almost a sin to him. Dad and Uncle Noah would on occasion, get into the Canadian Club and travel. What a pair!! My Dad had a nice singing voice and could play the piano. His favorite song was Beer Barrel Polka. He was a Buickman too and did love those big engine cars. Pearl Bailey was my Dad's favorite entertainer. Scrapple was a favorite food and he would be amazed if he saw it was in frozen food section of big markets now. On occasion he would make a cheese spread for us. It was tasty, but he insisted that the main ingredient must be "rat cheese".

May your heart be light and happy. May your smile be big and wide. And may your pockets always have a tinkle of gold inside.
