BECK - Leslie E., 76, Richland Township, passed away on June 11, 2009, at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He was born on Jan. 15, 1933, in DuBois, son of Roy and Mary Beck. Predeceased by parents; wife, Charlotte Beck; son, Leslie; and brother, James, and sister, Cathy Roe. Survived by his loving son, Leroy, married to the former Cindy Coyle, Ansonia, Conn.; grandchildren, Melanie, Kristopher and Diana; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Leslie was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from Bethlehem Steel, where he was employed as a metallurgist. Leslie was a life member and held all the offices including commander of the Richland American Legion Post 849 and a member of Menoher Post 155 VFW, Solomon Run Firemen's Club and the FOE. He was very generous in his volunteering time to American Legion Activities, especially Children and Youth Services and Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, and Altoona Veterans Hospital. Leslie enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He will remembered as a guy that could always tell a joke and will be missed by all that knew him. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at The Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Deffenbaugh officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post 155 VFW, Ritual Team.
