In 1875 (Kansas state census enumeration), Ed McDonald and Christy McDonald lived in Dickinson County, with children Thomas (21), Mary (19), Julia (17), James (15), Henry (8), Fred (4) and George (4 months).
In 1880, James was enumerated as head of the household, with Christina, Henry, Fred and George also in the home. (1880 census enumeration, with the relationships garbled). Christina and George still lived together in 1900 (with a boarder named Frank Conant. James McDonald and Edwin Conant, Frank's father, were neighbors in 1880. Julia Conant, Frank's mother, was born a McDonald. Possibly she is George McDonald's sister.)
George married Sarah nee Kirby about 1902, according to the 1910 census enumeration. A conflicting source stated they were married in 1906, but they were in fact living together as family in the 1905 Kansas state census enumeration.
