Inez Carolina Shepard, 95, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at the Satanta Long Term Care Unit, where she had been a resident.

She was born Nov. 20, 1913, in Garden City to Victor M. and Wilhelmina Bayon Dudley.

Mrs. Shepard was married to Guy E. O'Neal on June 19, 1930, at Scott City. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1953. She then married Cecil Clifford Shepard on July 2, 1955, at Clayton, N.M. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1987.

She loved her family and enjoyed being with them. She was a retail clerk, a cook for the Satanta schools, a restaurant cook and a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Satanta.

Survivors include two daughters, Wilma Garrision of Ulysses and Vivian Bohannon of Cookeville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Margaret Perkins, Bloomfield, N.M., and Etta Clark, Derby; 19 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two sisters, Olive Day and Florence Losey; one half brother, A.L. Dudley; three daughters, Watheta 'Jean' Whitmore, Virginia O. Cannon and Wanda F. Mason; and a stepson, Dorrel R. Shepard.

Memorials have been established for either the First Baptist Church in Satanta or the Long Term Care Unit in Satanta. Memorials may be left at the Shopping Stop True Value, Satanta, or mailed to Haskell County Funeral Home, Box 607, Sublette, KS, 67877.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the First Baptist Church, Satanta, with the Rev. Jerry Edle presiding. Burial in the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.

Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, was in charge of arrangements.

Friends called from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at the funeral home.
