Son of Henry and Mary Rumor.

George served with the 4th Delaware Regiment, Company E & B during the Civil War.

He claimed to be 43 when he enlisted on Aug. 23, 1862, with Capt. Harper in Wilmington.

Rumor, and his wife Eliza, lived and farmed in Stanton, DE. Suffered with chronic rheumatism, diarrhea, pleurisy and dyspepsia through much of his enlistment.

He was also discovered to actually be 57 during a stay at Mower U.S. Army General Hospital in Philadelphia.

He was mustered out with the rest of the regiment on June 3, 1865.
