Marine Corps First Lieutenant M. R. Ivey, a Naval Aviator, died when his FJ-2 FURY jet crashed some 10 miles from MCAS Cherry Point.

1st LT Ivey was the son of Mr. Theodore Holley & Mrs. Dorothy Crawford Ivey of Alibene. His wife was the former Stella Francine Travis (also of Alibene). They had a 1-year old daughter, Roge Anna.
