Teresa A. Simpson, 36, of 10136 Wright Street Road, died early Tuesday evening at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

A funeral Mass will be said 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, at St. Cecilia's Church, Adams, with Rev. Douglas A. Decker officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. A vigil service will begin at 9:00 p.m.

Born Sept. 8, 1972, in Watertown, a daughter of Robert D. and Patricia A. Williams Simpson, she graduated in 1990 from South Jefferson Central School. She attended Jefferson Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh receiving a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.

Miss Simpson worked at K-Mart, 2 Bros. Pizza and Restaurant, and was a dispatcher for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, then later a communications specialist for the New York State Police.

She became a New York State trooper in January 2002 and was stationed at Troop F SP Liberty and at Troop D SP Adams. Most recently she worked with the State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), Syracuse.

She was recognized for her dispatch service during the ice storm of 1998 and she received the Red Cross Heroes Award for her role in helping police capture two purse snatchers outside Salmon Run Mall.

In 2006, she was honored for her exceptional investigative and road skills at the annual Law and Order Night conducted by the Watertown Army and Navy American Legion Post 61.

Miss Simpson was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church and a member and chaplain of the Adams Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving besides her parents, are two brothers and their wives, State Police Sgt. Robert J. and S. Jennifer Simpson, Adams, and State Police Investigator Joseph P. and Kathleen Simpson, Adams; six nieces and nephews; her maternal grandmother, Matilda A. Williams, Watertown; her paternal step grandmother, Jean Simpson, Livermore, Calif.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Adams Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, P.O. Box 72, Adams, NY 13605, or to the South Jefferson Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 126, Adams, NY 13605.
