MR. AND MRS. HENES OBSERVE GOLDEN WEDDING
EAST AMHERST - Dec. 23 - Mr. and Mrs. John Henes, Town-line, celebrated their golden wedding in their home here on Wednesday, December 20th, A six o'clock dinner with their children as hosts was served in the dining room with a color motive of gold and white, a huge wedding cake for the centerpiece. ... Many friends and relatives called during the day. Mr. Henes recently celebrated is 77th birthday anniversary while Mrs. Henes is 72. They were married in St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church by the Rev. Theo. A. Walter. They started married life in a modest little home on ... Road in East Amherst. Forty two years ago they purchased the farm where they now reside. Although disabled from an illness he had several years ago, Mr. Henes is still farming.
Mr. Henes was born in Germany, while Mrs. Henes was born in Russia Township near Oberlin. Both Mr. and Mrs. Henes have been active in church work being members of St. Peter's Evangelical church in Amherst.
Twenty years ago he was president of the .... board of the church.
Prior to that he was a trustee and treasurer of the organization. The couple have six children, three sons and three daughters. They are Walter Henes of Lorain, Carl Henes and Mrs. Fred Coverdale, Amherst; Mrs. Otto Feagler and Albert Henes, Elyria; Mrs. M. Thellman, Stop 13 Lake street.
The honored guests received many gifts of flowers and money. The community extens to them the best wishes for many more happy years of life together.

John died from arteriosclerosis, chronic myocardial infarction, and a cerebral hemorrhage in Carlisle Twp., Lorain Co., OH, and was buried 13 Feb 1943.
