Leona B. Core
Leona B. Core, 71, of rural Rawson, died at the Bridge Hospice Care Center at 5:50 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2009. She was born November 1, 1937 in Eagle Township to Alonzo S. & Carrie (Hartman) Powell. She married Robert O. Core on August 5, 1956 and he died August 30, 2007. Surviving are five daughters: Debra L. Core, Mt. Cory, Cathy S.(James) Tichenor, Greensburg, Indiana, Lisa R. (Brad) Inniger, Jenera, Jill A. (Mike) Harmon, Findlay and Amy J. (Terry) Greer, Arlington; brother, George H. (Norma) Powell, Findlay; sisters: Helen McClure, Sun City Center, Florida, Virginia Vetter, Jackson Center, Ohio; granddaughters: Kelsey Harmon, Devin Harmon, Blair Harmon, Maria Core, Aly Core, Audrey Inniger, Jessica Tichenor and Erica Greer. She was preceded in death by brothers, Lonnie E. and Joe O. Powell. Leona was a homemaker and assisted with the family farm operation. She was a 1955 graduate of Cory Rawson High School. She was member of the Powell United Methodist and its Ladies Aid. She attended the Mt. Zion (West) United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the Cory Rawson Cafe Coffee Club. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, at the COLDREN CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay with Rev. Brett Kelly officiating. Interment will be at the Benton Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial tributes to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Cental Ohio Chapter, 740 Lakeview Plaza Blvd., Ste 225, Worthington, Ohio 43085.
