In 1923 he was Assistant Maricopa County Attorney and in 1925 he was appointed Maricopa County Attorney. Between 1933-1935 he was Arizona Attorney General and from 1939-1945 he was a Superior Court Judge. This position resulted in LaPrade, Sr. being referred to as "The Judge" for years to come.
He served on the Supreme Court from 1947-1957 and was Chief Justice a couple of times.
Arthur met his wife Lucile Hooper at UC Berkeley. They married in 1918 and had four children, Arthur, Loren, Janice and Paul.
