Philip D. Maxwell, 60, of Flora, IL died at 7:35 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.

He was born October 19, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH to Rymer V. & Juanita (Lindsey) Maxwell. He was formerly married to Mary Schwarzlose which took place in Flora on November 27, 1971.

He worked at Roadmaster in Olney, Zink's in Louisville, Southwire and most recently Wal-Mart in Flora. He was a member of the Flora First Christian Church, the Harvest Seekers Sunday School Class, was past deacon & held the position of chairman of the deacons at the church, participated in the library's Literacy Program and played drums in the Community Band. Phil enjoyed walking, being with people, and working with his computer.

He is survived by his daughter: Erin Maxwell of Flora; brother: Jerry Maxwell & wife Rita of Louisville, KY; sister: Karen Mason & husband Lee of Cincinnati, OH; 8 nieces and nephews along with many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother (Neil).

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday, June 15, 2009 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Campbell officiating.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Sunday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Masonic Rites at 8 PM.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or Flora Public Library.
