FORTVILLE--Emmons E. Thomas, 84, Rt. 2, Box 229-A, died Friday morning at a Greenfield nursing home after an illness of five weeks.

Born June 26, 1896, in Hancock County, the retired farmer had been an outer guard for the Indianapolis Masonic Temple. He was a member of the Fortville Christian Church, Madison County Shrine Club, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and a 50-year member of Fortville Masonic Lodge 207.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Estella) Sharritt of Ingles; two sons, Master Sgt. John S. Thomas, stationed at Gunder Air Force Base in Alabama, and James C. Thomas of Indianapolis; a brother, Hervey Thomas of McCordsville; a sister, Mrs. Wilbur (Oakla) Whitesides of Indianapolis; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Ronald Seals Funeral Home here with Dick True and John Tenney officiating. Burial will be at Gravel Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Sunday. Masonic memorial rites will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
