Born July 23, 1918 in Burley, Idaho, the youngest son of Charles Magnus and Alice Gransbury Olson.
Married Lorna Ward in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 25, 1938. They are the parents of four children: Karen Cravens (Blaine), Sandy, UT; Samuel R., Honolulu, HI; Sue Ann McFarland (Thomas), Boise, ID; and Jon Scott Olson, Salt Lake City.
Neal was always a faithful member of the LDS Church. He served in three bishoprics, High Councilman, and teacher. He wrote "Pearls of the Book of Mormon". He loved serving the Lord. Honesty was his hallmark.
Neal had a very distinguished business career which included organizer of the Independent Service Station Operators Association, Vice-President of Marketing for Frontier Refining Co. - a 19-state petroleum refining and marketing company, Vice-President of Fearless Farris Corporations aka Stinker gasoline stations in Boise, ID, and a past president of Western Petroleum Marketers Association.
Survived by wife, Lorna; children; brother, Carl, Salt Lake City; sisters, Fern Voss (Don), St. George, UT; Ruth DiFrancesco (Alex) Murray, UT; Nelda Tietjen (Jerry), Magna, UT; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 1990 at 1 p.m. in the Brookstone Ward Chapel, 1830 East 6400 South. Friends may call on Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, and at the Ward Chapel on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services.
Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
