Jana L. (Day) Starr, 30, of Marion, died in Marion General Hospital, in Marion, Indiana.

She was born in Bluffton, Indiana to Scott and Pandy (Squires) Day and they survive. She married Raphael Starr just two weeks ago and he also survives. Jana was a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion and formerly employed by IWU as a resident hall director and director of student life. She currently was employed as the Director of Student retention for the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne. She earned her Masters in Higher Education through IUPUI and was near the end of finishing her Doctorate through Ball State University. She attended College Wesleyan Church in Marion and was a member of the Mississinewa Valley Community Band in which she played the Oboe. She enjoyed working in the yard and loved animals.

Survivors include her husband, Raphael; parents, Scott and Pandy Day, Sturgis, Mich.; sister, Jill (Dustin) Pagels, Sturgis, Mich.; maternal grandmother, Mary Cavanaugh, Sturgis, Mich.; paternal grandmother, Betty Day, Bluffton; two nephews, Nathan and Matthew, Sturgis, Mich.; mother and father in law, Edmund and Barbara Starr, Columbia, S. C.; three sisters-in-laws, Katonya, Kimberly and Krystal Starr, Columbia, South Carolina.
