Pauline Pvirre, 91, formerly of 512 Grant St., died Wednesday at United Helpers Nursing Home, where she had resided since 2005.

She was employed by Cleveland Container, retiring from Newell's Manufacturing after 25 years.

Born Aug. 8, 1917, in Ogdensburg, daughter of Joseph and Mary Montroy Fortin , she attended Ogdensburg Free Academy. She married Charles G. Pvirre on Sept. 11, 1937, at Notre Dame Church with the Rev. A.D. Charboneau officiating. The couple operated a local grocery store on Grant Street for many years. Mr. Pvirre died Feb. 17, 1988.

In younger years, Mr. and Mrs. Pvirre enjoyed spending winters in Florida, summers at camp in Red Mills and falls at a hunting camp in the town of Claire. Mrs. Pvirre enjoyed cooking, crocheting and visits from the Rev. Terry R. LaValley and Sister Theresa LaBrake.

Surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Three sisters, Dora Casey, Alva Hazelton and an infant sister, Mary Jane Fortin, three brothers, Joseph Jr., Richard and Frederick Fortin, died before her.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Terry R. LaValley officiating.

Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park. A calling hour will start at 9 a.m. Friday at Frary Funeral Home.
