A son of the late Martin and Isia McFall, he was born in Letcher County. He was married to the late Aileen Bentley.
Hampton was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War.
He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Wayne Hampton and Michael Allen Hampton; three daughters, Linda Ann Hampton Sexton, Vivian Hampton Hall, and Bonita Sue Hampton Collier; three brothers, William Leonard Hampton, Westland, Mich.; Paul Evart Hampton, Millstone; and Owen Clatton Hampton, Nicholasville; four sisters, Lenore Loy, Evansville, Ind.; Norma Ruth Hampton, Wilma June Hampton, and Nannie Belle Hampton, all of Nicholasville; 12 grandchildren, and 16 greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held January 13 at Letcher Funeral Home. Burial was in the Haven of Rest Cemetery at Mayking.
