George Raymond Plunkett, 52, of Garner Avenue, died at 12:20 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born May 17, 1957, in East Liverpool, a son of the late George Plunkett and Marjorie Ann Welling, he was a lifetime area resident.

He was a member of the Church of God in East Liverpool and retired from the Homer Laughlin China Company after 27 years service.

Ray loved watching football and the Oakland Raiders. He also enjoyed attending car shows and looking at muscle cars.

Surviving at home is his wife, Dianne C. Plunkett, whom he married January 13, 1989.

Also surviving at home are two sons, Robert R. Plunkett and Derek S. Plunkett.

Three brothers surviving are Arthur Jay Plunkett and his wife, Kathy, of Lillian, Ala.; James E. Plunkett and his wife, Patty, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and David Scott "Bill" Plunkett of East Liverpool.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joedy Lee Plunkett in April 2001 and a step-father, Mack R. Welling in April 1998.

Pastor Donald Cline of the church is to conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the Dawson Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009.

Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.

Family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center immediately following the service.
