DEATH FOLLOWS OPERATON FOR MRS. MERTENS
TWO RIVERS, April 25—Mrs. John J. Mertens, well known resident of the East Side, died yesterday afternoon at the Holy Family hospital following an operation for appendicitis which was performed Tuesday of this week.
The funeral will be held from the family home, Emmett street, Tuesday afternoon with services at St. John’s Lutheran church. Rev. Haase officiated at the last rites and burial held in Pioneers Rest cemetery.
Mrs. Mertens was forty-one years of age and was born in Theresa, Wisconsin.
Besides her husband she is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Ferdinand Leonard, Mrs. Fred Horstman, Mrs. William Mertens, Alvina Nischke of Two Rivers, and four brothers, Arthur Nischke of Two Rivers, William, address unknown, Rudolph of Oconto and Emil of Peshtigo.
