Son Dies, Attack of Pneumonia, Father Ill

An attack of pneumonia from which he had been suffering only a short time, caused the death of John Mertens of this city at the Holy Family Hospital at Manitowoc Saturday noon. The funeral service will be held tomorrow, Tuesday afternoon at Grace Congregational Church, the Rev. Hawkes
officiating.

John Mertens was born in this city forty-five years ago and had been employed by the Eggers Veneer Seating Company.

His wife preceded him in death two years ago and surviving are his father, William Mertens Sr., who is himself
criticially ill; a brother, William Jr., and three sisters, Mrs. Frank Hronek, Mrs. George Fliegel and Mrs. Edward Wacek.
