Circleville Man Shot on Last Day of Hunting Season

James Henderson, 27, of Circleville was fatally wounded Sunday when he was accidentally shot by a companion while hunting deer up City Creek canyon in the Oak Basin west of Circleville.

According to information brought back by Hunter, Henderson and a group were making a drive through the timber to scare the deer out into the open, and he was mistaken for a deer by Wm. Horton, 21, also of Circleville when he came into the open country.

Henderson died just as his companions were bringing him into town. A richfield physician who had been summoned stated that the bullet entered the mans thigh close to the body and death had probably resulted from a hemorrhage.

Henderson is a son of President Henderson of the Garfield stake. He is survived by his widow, Jetta Reagon Henderson, whom he married April 3, 1928; one son James Dixon; his father J. W. Henderson; his foster mother, Elizabeth Henderson and the following brothers and sisters: Jasper and George Henderson of Cannonville, John C. of Delta, Warren Frank and Reed Henderson of Panguitch, Mrs. Ethel Clark and Mrs. Bertha Clarke of Cannoville and Mrs. Opal Ahlstrom of Pangultch.
