Mr. Wilbur N. Mertens, 64, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, died April 10, 1990, at St. Agnes Hospital. A memorial service was held at Mach Funeral Chapel, Fond du Lac. Pastor David G. Johnson officiated, cremation will take place with inurnment in Pioneers Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers.
Mr. Mertens was born June 6, 1925, at Two Rivers, Wisconsin, son of the late Norman and Theresa Brusky Mertens. He married Alice M. Koch on February 14, 1953, at Two Rivers. He was an Internal Revenue Service agent. He served with the United States Army during World War II and is a retired Major with the 432nd CA Company, U.S. Army Reserves. Mr. Mertens lived in Manitowoc, Sheboygan
and Fond du Lac. He was a graduate of Two Rivers Washington High School in 1943, Spencerian Business College in 1948 and the University of Michigan in 1956.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Steven (Patricia) Mertens, of Washington, D.C., Richard (Connie) Mertens of Washington, D.C., Jeffrey Mertens of LaFayette, Colorado, and James Mertens of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and three grandchildren.
