She was born February 25, 1923 in Marshalltown, the daughter of Charles and Jessie Shaver Tuggle. She married William Vanderlip on December 24, 1942 in Cedar Falls. She later married Melvin Bruns on April 24, 1987 in Waterloo.
Mrs. Vanderlip-Bruns attended Parsons College, Fairfield. She was employed as a sales clerk at J.C. Penney Co. for many years.
She was survived by her husband, Melvin; a son, Charles Vanderlip of Gerber, California; three grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Otto of Cedar Falls; she was preceded in death by a son, William G. Vanderlip.
Services were held at Zion Lutheran Church, with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
