FRANCES MERTENS

Mrs. Frances Mertens, 81, of 1412-22nd St., Two Rivers, widow of Fred (Ole) Mertens, longtime Draft Board member and Two Rivers business man, died late Saturday night at Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels and at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. James Stamborski officiating. Burial in Pioneers' Rest Cemetery.

Mrs. Mertens, nee Frances Bonk, was born Aug. 22, 1890, in the Town of Two Creeks, daughter of the late Frank and Jennie Gonia Bonk. When she was a child the family brought her to Two Rivers, where she attended Sacred Heart
Parochial School.

She was a member of Auxiliary of Eleven Gold Star Post No.
1248, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ladies Rosary Society of Sacred Heart.

She was married in 1916 to Fred Mertens at Two Rivers. He preceded her in death in 1960.

She leaves a foster son, Dr. Wallace Bonk, of Ann Arbor, MI, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Brault, of Mt. Horeb, a brother, George Bonk, of Two Rivers; three sisters, Mrs. James Schauer and Mrs. Ben Domborwski, of Two Rivers and Mrs. Theresa Gillespie, of San Diego, CA, and three foster grandchildren.
