In June 1959 Congess authorized a bronze memorial, called a cenataph, issued to the next of kin of any service man who was missing in action. Evergreen Memorial Park received one of the first of these and the first cenataph installed was in memory of 2nd Lt. Frederick Wohlstein. He was attached to the 488th Bomber Squadron U.S. Air Force and was reported missing in action Aug 15, 1944.
