Heinie married Verna Levada "Vernie" Nolle on 03 May 1923 in St. Louis County, Missouri. They were the parents of 1 son.
Like all the Meseke boys, Heinie helped his father run the family farm in Calhoun County, Illinois. He left home in his early 20's and moved to St. Louis. For a while, he and a younger brother, George, had jobs there building cars for Moon Motors.
Later, Heinie and his wife had a farm in the Spanish Lake area for many years. While still in St. Louis, Vernie gave birth to the couple's only child after 22 years of marriage. The family then moved to a farm in Carrollton, Greene County, Illinois in the late 1940's.
The Mesekes were members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Carrollton.
Heinie died of cancer at Boyd Memorial Hospital. At the time of his death, he was 64 years, 5 months and 22 days old.
He was survived by his wife and son; 3 brothers, Louie, George and Oscar Meseke, all of St. Louis, Missouri; 3 sisters, Bertha Arnold of Roxana, Illinois, Oleta Freand of Hillview, Illinois, and Freda Robeen of Golden Eagle, Illinois; 7 nephews; and 3 nieces.
In addition to his parents, Heinie was preceded in death by 1 brother, Bud Meseke, who was killed in action during World War II.
Visitation was held at Mehl Funeral Home in Carrollton after 4 p.m. on 04 Jan 1966. Funeral services were conducted there at 2 p.m. the following afternoon.
Heinie's wife, Vernie, passed away in 1996 and was buried next to him.
